# About the guide and SMILE-FX® care

## An explanation to bring to your conversation

This guide explains one planning relationship after a clinician-supplied account of substantial supporting-tissue injury. [Read the explanation and supplied record](/#relationship). It does not assess an injury or establish what treatment is appropriate for you.

## Care with continuing doctor responsibility

These are SMILE-FX®'s confirmed practice capabilities, not evidence from the guideline or a promise to accept every injured-tooth case. Your individual assessment and written proposal establish the scope of your care.

### Board-certified doctors throughout care

At SMILE-FX®, board-certified orthodontists see every patient, including follow-ups, under clinical director Dr. Tracy Miao Liang. Continuing doctor responsibility helps connect the findings, proposed goal and later review.

### Full-service digital orthodontics

The practice provides full-service, digitally driven orthodontic care with a clear-aligner focus. The individual's assessment and written proposal determine the care offered.

### Planning you can discuss

AI-assisted planning and illustrative before-and-after previews help explain proposed changes. A preview is a discussion aid, not a predicted result or an assessment of injury recovery or pulp status.

### Imaging when indicated

Low-dose 3D CBCT imaging is available when individually indicated. A consultation request does not establish which records or imaging are appropriate.

### Smartphone monitoring

Smartphone/iPhone monitoring is standard with braces and aligners, supporting communication and clinical review alongside individual assessment.

### Flags for the care team

Monitoring can flag broken brackets or nontracking aligners for team evaluation. A flag is not a diagnosis or an assessment of injured-tissue recovery.

### Contact access around the clock

Provider-support contact access is available 24/7. Access is distinct from an instant response; follow the responsible treating team's current contact instructions.

### In-house aligners and retainers

In-house 3D printed aligners and same-day aligner/retainer options are available. Prescription, availability and individual arrangements are confirmed with the team.

### Doctor-led support for ongoing care

Home course-correction shipments and the doctor-led Rescue option for prior-aligner care are individually prescribed and arranged. They are care options, not an injury-treatment promise.

### Custom brackets

Custom 3D brackets are manufactured off-site. This is separate from the practice's in-house aligner and retainer fabrication.

### An individually selected appliance

Options include Invisalign®, OrthoFX®, AirFlex™ and nighttime options, individually selected and prescribed. Your own prescription supplies the appliance and wear instructions; a past injury or this guide does not choose them.

### Retention and whitening included

Fixed and removable retainers plus whitening are included, with the scope and individual arrangements confirmed in your written proposal.

### A separate colour goal

At-home and in-office whitening are available. Suitability and arrangements are individual; the availability of both does not mean every person receives both. Whitening concerns tooth colour, not the recovery question explained in this guide.

## What the reference supports

The 2021 guideline recommendations used here make recovery relevant after substantial injury to the supporting tissues. They are not a treatment-effect trial or a rule that every past injury delays orthodontic care. The individual's findings and proposal still need clinical assessment.
